New changes are coming to Facebook Messenger

This week Facebook celebrated F8, a convention dedicated to developers. Here they give details about everything that is coming out this year and beyond. The conference opened with Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, where he talks about the importance of privacy and how they are going to provide the best tools to protect the users.

One of its main talks was about Messenger and how it has changed communications. The recent numbers provided by Facebook showed that more than 1.3 billion people use Messenger each month. In other words, you have access to all of those users.

These are brand new statistics from

Many new changes are coming, especially regarding security. First, they announced a new version of the platform called Lightspeed, which is much faster and smaller than the previous version. For this new version, they started from scratch, enabling to make it better.

Since Lightspeed is a smaller size, it will be able to install it in more devices and available for more users. Furthermore, it was announced a desktop version of Messenger available for Windows and Mac. There is a browser version but does not bring all the tools, but with the new edition, it will be exactly as the mobile, allowing you even to make video calls.

One big announcement was the plan of uniting Messenger with WhatsApp and Instagram DM. Now you will receive your messages in one platform, making it easier for the users.

Some of the new attributes that are coming are watching a video with another viewer, making it a community. Also, a new feature announced is allowing you to do video calls with more people at the same time.

There is a new feature called Appointment Booking, and like the name implies it will allow you to book a time to visit a business or schedule appointments for things like volunteering, consultation, or other purposes. And a new dark mode has been confirmed, cutting down the light, especially during those moments you are watching TV at night and don’t want to bother those around you.

These features are not currently available and should arrive before the year ends. With these changes, it will make Messenger a must have and an application to connect with your customers. To make sure you are connected, I recommend using SmartEngage, the first and only platforms that allow you to interact with your followers through their email, Facebook Messenger and push notification.

In other words, you can stay in touch using any one of these means or all of them at the same time. That is just one of the many benefits SmartEngage can provide for your business. You can try it for 14 days with the FREE TRIAL.
